Sprague qualified amongst 29,000 other Crossfitters worldwide during the recent Reebok Crossfit Open competition to earn a spot in the games. He placed 10th in the world in his age division, 45 to 49, after a seven-week long competition that consisted of six different, challenging CrossFit workouts that involved weightlifting, gymnastics, and cardiorespiratory endurance combinations.

Introduced to CrossFit by a friend about two years ago, Sprague had always enjoyed running and working out at the gym but was ready to try something new. Now, he regularly trains with his coaches and works out at SnoRidge CrossFit on Snoqualmie Ridge.

Sprague loves the high intensity varied exercises, strength and endurance workouts, competitive edge of CrossFit and says the great people he works out with are all very inspiring and supportive of each other. He has grown stronger, faster, and learned new skills that most people don’t include in their fitness regimen, such as a 510-pound deadlift, a 5,000 meter row in under 18 minutes, 20 foot rope climbs, a six-minute mile, handstand push-ups, and routine workouts with over 100 pull-ups.
