The Mount Si Wildcat girls’ soccer team closed out the regular season with a split of their two games last week.

Tuesday, Oct. 23, the Wildcats traveled to Issaquah to play the Eagles, facing their biggest individual nemesis the last four years one last time in Issaquah: star Kate Deines. The Eagles won 2-0, further cementing themselves as state title favorites. That said, Mount Si gave it their best, specifically senior Mariana Zanella, who created a lot of scoring opportunities in the second half for the Wildcats, but Mount Si was unable to convert anything.

On Thursday, Oct. 25, Mount Si honored several seniors who have been instrumental in the program’s success the last few years as the team played its final scheduled home game. Zanella, Katie Woolsey, Mariah Stevens, Kara Clearman, Krista Niklason and seniors playing for the Wildcat junior varsity – Kelsey Wise, Alex Eisenburg and Norwegian exchange student Guro Summer Nikolaisen – were honored prior to the contest. Players had their pictures taken with their parents, and each player offered up some memories about their experience that were read over the stadium public address system.
