Runners moving up: Day one results for Cedarcrest track at league championships

Wednesday’s rain wasn’t the best of conditions for a track meet, but Cedarcrest perservered and came away with good performances on day one of hosting the Cascade Conference Championships. The top eight placers in Wednesday’s laned events move to Friday finals. The top seven 2A athletes move on to districts.

Moving on are Cara Strodel, who took second in the 1,600 meter race; Allison Bawden, who took fourth in the triple jump; Mitch Montgomery, who took fifth in the 1,600 meter race; and Chad Linnerooth, who took seventh in the 1,600.

Zach Jordan took fourth in the 110 meter hurdles and 300 meter hurdles, improving his times. Another noteworthy finisher was Alex Zuvich, who finished eighth at discus as a freshman.

Logan Orndorf and Gage Catherman broke their own freshmen records in the 1,600 and 800 meter races.

Josh Denison (10th in the  400), Logan Orndorf (eighth in the 1600 meter race), and Molly Hammontree (eighth in the 300 meter hurdles) made improvement on the top 10 lists.
