Records fall at Snoqualmie Cinco de Mayo half-marathon

Runners in the men’s and women’s division set new records in Run Snoquamie’s second annual Cinco de Mayo Half Marathon, held Saturday, May 7. Steve DeKoker led the men’s finals at 1:09:02, while Sayaka Yoshinaha had the top women’s times at 1:19:44. A half-marathon is slightly longer than 13 miles.

Brian Carroll led the men’s 8-kilometer race at 29:54, while Anita Behrbaum led the women at 33:32.

In the children’s mile, Dante Bournique led the boys with 5:23, while Sarah Christopherson led the girls at 7:03.

Despite a morning downtown, the race drew more than 1,000 people to the Mount Si High School start line. Sixty-four volunteers kept participants watered and safe.

Run Snoqualmie’s next race is the Fall City Days 10K, 5K and children’s 1K races, set for June 18.
