There were no ghouls, no goblins, no rattling of ghostly chains, but
the offensive firepower displayed by the Bellevue varsity football team on
Friday the 13th was scary enough to beat the Mount Si Wildcats 31-12.

Mount Si traveled to Issaquah last Friday for what has always proven
to be a tough football game. An offensive first half and tough defensive
second half allowed the team to escape with a 25-20 victory despite
several fumbles.

Mount Si once again showed that it has the heart and will to win by
defeating the Newport Knights 21-7. Newport, which had a 5-2 record
going into last Friday’s contest, failed to generate any substantial rushing
yardage.

Wildcat razzle-dazzle: Mount Si graduate Aaron Binger is
tearing up the turf for the Pacific Lutheran University (PLU) Lutes.
The Lutes are now 7-1 and have a good chance of repeating
as NCAA Division III national champions in part due to
Binger’s running performance. In last Saturday’s game against
Southern Oregon, the freshman tailback had two
touchdowns, and has racked up over a thousand total yards receiving
and rushing. Along with Binger at PLU is classmate Dave
Weller who is playing receiver and extra-point man. Both players
are 1999 graduates of Mount Si.
