On to the championship

Mount Si graduate Michael Gavronski (left) won his Golden Gloves boxing match recently in a regional bout in Las Vegas. Gavronski won his semi-final bout in the 165-pound division and then his final bout in the second round with a knockout. He also won recognition for the best fight of the finals.
The win moves him to the next level, which will be held beginning April 24 in Omaha Neb. Each fighter competes daily in single elimination bouts until the winner is crowned national champion in their weight class.
Gavronski trains with Mark and Kim Messer, who own and operate Ring Sports in Bellevue. He has been training there since February 2004.
