Mount Si hoops: Boys go to the Tacoma Dome, girls season ends

The girls were eliminated from the state tournament. The boys will play in the quarter-finals.

After making it to the state tournament for the first time in nearly 30 years, the Mount Si High School girls basketball team were eliminated this past weekend.

The Wildcats lost its opening match-up against Bellarmine Prep, 43-73, on Feb. 25 at Lake Washington High School.

The Wildcats will graduate five seniors from its varsity roster, including Grace Turley, Hannah Moscrip, Talyn Bell, Campbell Vincent, Elena Rourke and Makayla Adams.

Boys team

The Mount Si boys basketball team is headed to the Tacoma Dome.

After beating Tahoma, 80-43, on Feb. 24 in the opening round of the state tournament, the Wildcats secured a bye into the quarter inals.

They played the winner of Union (Camas) vs Richland on March 1 (after press time).

KingCo All-League Honors

The 2022-2023 KingCo All-League awards were recently released, with several Wildcats taking home top honors.

For the boys team, winners include: Miles Heide (Player of the year), Trevor Hennig (First Team All KingCo), Blake Forrest (Second Team All KingCo). Bennett Olujic received an honorable mention.

For the girls team, Grace Turley was named First Team All KingCo and Co-Defensive Player of the Year. Zada White, Emma Sheeks and Makaiaya Adams received honorable mentions.
