Senior class members of Mount Si’s volleyball team have enjoyed many memorable moments over their four years in the Wildcat program, but last Wednesday, they saved the best for last.

On the night honoring the class of 2008 seniors, the team played the game of their lives and in doing so, made quick work of winless Sammamish in Mount Si’s final regular season game. Scores for the match were 25-11, 25-8 and 25-6 in a match that only lasted about an hour.

The night started with emotions running high as seniors Rachel Brun, Caitlyn Forslin, Danielle Rehm, Sine Schirmer, Tamara Hoerth and Alisha Larion were honored in pregame ceremonies. While those festivities were certainly memories the group will cherish, the real fun was only beginning.

Wildcat coach Bonnie Foote started all six of her seniors, then let them play together almost the entire match, making minimal substitutions. And the class of 2008 responded, playing like they’ve known and played together for 10 years or more. Brun and Schirmer served well, Rehm and Larion provided tough play up front and Hoerth and Forslin offered strong support as Mount Si won game one rather easily. Schirmer had five aces in the frame, including the final one that slammed the door.
