All the school districts in the Reporter’s coverage areas — Northshore, Lake Washington, Bellevue, Issaquah, Mercer Island and Snoqualmie — have noted that most school-related events, including sports practices, will not be cancelled after the coronavirus outbreak.

All Northshore schools are closed to students today in order to provide training to staff to engage students in remote learning, and their support services staff will be coordinating a district-wide disinfection of each school campus, according to the district’s web site.

All other schools in the aforementioned districts remain open and they are closely monitoring the health and attendance of their students and staff, according to notes on their web sites and messages to the Reporter.

In the case of Northshore, Deputy Superintendent Duggan Harman told the Reporter in an email that because students aren’t present on their campuses today, there are no activity buses running and middle-school athletic practices are canceled today only. High-school teams are training as many sports require a minimum amount of practice requirements to be eligible for competition. Middle-school practices are planned to resume tomorrow.

The district is monitoring the COVID-19 situation closely, both internally and throughout the region, and will adjust guidance as necessary, Harman said.
