Hawks improve record

The Chief Kanim Middle School seventh-grade varsity boys’ basketball team improved its record to 7-1 after defeating Beaver Lake 37-33. Leading the effort for the Hawks was Joey Evans, who recorded 21 points and pulled down seven rebounds. Alex Heibert followed with 10 points while teammate Tyson Riley added two points and four assists. Chad Billings and Zach Kirchmeyer each contributed two points. Zach Brevik, Brian Johnson and Mike Nelson all had two rebounds each and Zach Lindor ,along with Spencer Macewan, each had two steals. Jordan Hope had one steal for the game.


Eighth-grade records win

Behind the 15 points of Curtis Beach, the Chief Kanim Middle School eighth-grade varsity boys’ basketball team downed Beaver Lake 52-38.

In addition to Beach, Jake Handy added nine points and 15 rebounds while Sam Hunston had 13 points. Ben Emerson knocked down seven points, Justin Poth had five points, Thomas Hunt had two points and Jake Tweten had one point.


Eagles down Wolverines

In a game with first place implications, it was no surprise the battle between Snoqualmie and the Pine Lake eighth-grade varsity boys’ basketball teams was both emotional and energetic. Both teams displayed tremendous basketball skills throughout the game. It was back and forth in the first quarter, with both teams trading baskets to end 15-15. The Eagles came out with some fire and determination in the second quarter, scorching the nets en route to a 25 -2 run. Caleb Williams led the charge, pushing the action and igniting the offense, driving through defenders for 15 points in the quarter. Taylor McCain was the recipient of assists, pumping in six points off the glass. Ian Brown and Kevin Isackson both hit long range threes as the Eagles took a 42-21 halftime lead. The Wolverines managed a spirited comeback in the second half, but the Eagles, behind McCain’s 15 second-half points, William’s 12, and Frank McLaughlin and Max Nelson’s boards and put backs, rallied for a fourth-quarter surge and nullified Pine Lake’s effort. Williams led all scorers with 33, followed by McCain’s 25 as the Eagles improved their record to 7-0.


JV defeats Chief Kanim

The Snoqualmie Middle School eighth-grade JV boys’ basketball team defeated Chief Kanim recently 34-33. The Eagles held the Hawks to one point in the third quarter and outscored them 25-14 in the second half to overcome a 20-9 halftime deficit. Nick Saty led the Eagles with 14 points and two clutch free throws in the final 10 seconds to ice the game. Other top performers were Nick Harmon with six points off the bench, Ian and Nathan Sansburn with six and four respectively and McLean Webster’s defensive effort was outstanding.


Hawks defeat Issaquah

The Chief Kanim Middle School seventh-grade varsity boys’ basketball team defeated Issaquah last week, 39-33. The Hawks used an aggressive full-court press to take control of the game early. Zach Brevik led the effort with 14 points while Joey Evans had 10. Tyson Riley had six points, Chad Billings had two points and Brian Johnson had two points. Zach Kirchmeyer contributed two rebounds while Zach Lindor had two steals.


Varsity downs Issaquah

Behind the 14-point, eight-rebound effort of Sam Hunston, the Chief Kanim Middle School eighth-grade varsity boys’ basketball team defeated Issaquah 49-36. Jake Handy contributed eight points and 10 rebounds. Blake Hepner had eight points, Curtis Beach had six, Jake Yweten had six, Justin Poth had four and Ben Emerson had two. Thomas Hut contributed six rebounds and Parker Griffin had two assists.
