Snoqualmie resident and racer Vic Fort recently completed yet

another great season on the tracks of the Northwest, culminating in a second

place finish in the championship points race at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe.

According to Fort, this year’s competition marked the seventh time

his team has finished in the top three in championship points.

The team _ consisting of driver Fort, crew chief Richard Gohlke,

and crew of Dean Holtan, Sheila Holtan and Brandon Fort _ also racked up

an eleventh place finish in the Winston ShorTrack National Region,

garnering a very respectable record of 11 top-five finishes and 15 top-10 finishes

in 17 starts. The region includes racers from Washington, Oregon,

Montana, Idaho, Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Kansas, Nebraska, and North

and South Dakota.

“Wow, talk about a rough year,” said Fort. “Our Winston Racing

Series Street Stock/Bombers had a lot of new drivers. This translated into a

lot of `action’ on the track.

“We spent more time working on the car this year than any two

years before, both because the level of competition has risen to a national

level and because things have gotten pretty physical.”

The driver added he appreciated the help of his crew, along with

help from local racers Allen and Dan Clarke. Fort also thanked his

sponsors, Somerset Auto Glass, North Bend NAPA and Twede’s Cafe of

North Bend; C&S Maintenance, Krish Fort and Krona & Krona of

Snoqualmie; North Fork Enterprises, Snoqualmie Valley; Hair in Motion, Kent;

and Sandi Toleth.
