DUVALL—The Cedarcrest girls basketball team kept their
collective foot in the door and kept their faint playoff hopes alive last week with
a 45-38 win at home over Sammamish.
The Red Wolves broke an 18-18 halftime tie by doubling the
Totem point total in the third quarter. Sarah Gustat and Heather Sherfey
each scored 11 points in the Red Wolves’ victory.
The team won the battle over a ferocious fourth quarter as
Cedarcrest scored 15 in the final frame to Sammamish’s 14 to maintain
their margin of victory.
Cedarcrest (3-8, 5-12) went on the road Friday and lost to the
highly ranked girls’ team from Liberty, 53-40. Gustat and Libbye Haddon
each contributed 11 points to the Red Wolves’ cause.
The girls conclude KingCo action this week with a home game
Wednesday against Mount Si and a road trip to face the Interlake Saints on Friday.
