Mount Si’s gymnastics team closed out its history-making, record-breaking ride with a strong finish at state in Tacoma.

The Wildcats finished fourth overall at the 2A/3A state meet at the Tacoma Dome Exhibition Hall Friday, Feb. 20, scoring 165.075. The fourth place finish and team score are both school records for a program that set new benchmarks in meets throughout the season.

Mount Si was led by Georgia Reynolds and Kennedy Richmond.

Reynolds led the Wildcats in all events, finishing third overall on the bars (9.4), tied for fourth on the floor (9.325), fifth on the beam (9.35), and 10th on vault (9.3). Her 37.375 was third in the state in the all-around.

Richmond also had strong showings on the beam, where she finished tied for ninth overall (9.2), and tied for seventh on the floor (9.3). The sophomore finished 23rd in the all around with 34.45.

The Wildcats also got solid performances from Rachel Karavias (9.125, tied for 12th overall) and McKinna Little (7.0, 74th) on the beam, and Brittany Cragin and Lexi Swanson on the bars.

Karavias was 29th in the all-around with 32.975, while Cragin, Little and Swanson finished further back, but still among the top half of the 138-competitor field.

Columbia River High School from Vancouver won the title, followed by Auburn Mountainview and Bainbridge.

Mount Si is expected to build off this success this year, as only Little and Cragin are graduating. Richmond, Swanson, Reynolds and Karavias are all expected back next season, and the program is likely to grow following this year’s success.

Reynolds’ and Richmond’s scores in various events last Friday qualified the two for finals competition on Saturday, Feb. 21. Reynolds’ best score was on bars, where she finished fourth in this competition with 9.425. The junior finished sixth on beam, and struggled to a 10th place finish on both vault and floor.

Richmond finished eighth in both the beam and floor events.
