Gymnasts, dancers pick up awards in competition

Puget Sound Gymnastics and Dance of North Bend recently participated in the Spotlight Dance Competition held in Tukwila, Wash., picking up a special judges’ award for creative concept for their piece, “Bathtime Beat,” among other honors

Puget Sound’s Dance Team includes four groups of 38 local area dancers ranging in age from 4 to 16. Awards were given based on a point system resulting in Sapphire, Emerald, Ruby and Diamond awards with Diamond being the highest level of award. Puget Sound Gymastics and Dance brought home five Diamond awards, eight Ruby awards and one Emerald award and was also given a special judges’ award for creative concept for their piece, “Bathtime Beat.”

The dancers competed in several categories including lyrical, jazz, musical theater and tap.  Results were remarkable, coaches said, since many of the team members have only been dancing for a few months and this is the first full season for the newly formed competitive dance team.

Puget Sound Gymnastics and Dance looks forward to competing in two more upcoming competitions in April and May with hopes to continue to bring home gold
