The University of Utah gymnastics team has announced the signing of Haley Lange, daughter of Mara Ferrari and Ron Lange of Snoqualmie, for the 2012-13 season.

“We feel we found a real diamond in the rough in Haley,” said Utah coach Greg Marsden. “In the last year and a half, Haley’s improvement has been remarkable. We think she will continue to get better throughout her collegiate career and look forward to being a part of that process.”

Lange qualified for the 2010 Junior Olympic Championships and her recent results include a first-place finish on the uneven bars and third-place all-around finish at a 2011 international competition in Guatemala. A 2009 Level 9 regional all-around champion, Lange won the 2010 state Level 10 vault title.

She trains at the Auburn Gymnastics Center for coaches Brent Phelps and Peter Flores, and attends Sammamish High School in Bellevue.

Lange will compete for the only school to qualify for 36-consecutive national championships and all 30 NCAA Championships. The Utes have won 10 national championships and have placed in the top-three 22 times. Utah is tied for the most NCAA Super Six appearances with 17 (of 19 total) and is the only school in the country to make the Super Six every year since 2000.

Utah holds every gymnastics attendance record, averaging more than 11,000 fans a home meet for the past 20 years. Utah has led all women’s sports in attendance for the last two years, including an NCAA gymnastics record 14,213 spectators a meet in 2010.
