Mount Si squelches Cedarcrest

In the traditional end of the season soccer showdown between

Mount Si and Cedarcrest, held on Tuesday, Oct. 26, the Wildcats went to the

goal early and often and came away with a 5-1 win over the Red Wolves.

The Mount Si players put all five of their shots in the net

before Cedarcrest could answer. Angela Jones initiated the scoring at

17:58; Jessica Hannah then sank two goals, at 21:42 and 34:5, while

Lauren Berndt put the fourth point away at 61:20. Hannah then completed the

hat trick, scoring her third and the Wildcats’ fifth goal at 79-minutes

even. Cassie Pepper notched the Wolves’ solo score off a pass from Dana Elwell.

Cedarcrest’s loss put them in a tie with Sammamish at 7-6, good for

second place in the Valley Division of KingCo 3A soccer. Mount Si

finished fourth with a 3-10 record, while Liberty took the division with an

overall record of 12-0-1 and earned a first-round bye in this Tuesday’s

league championships.

The Wolves played the first night, traveling to Bellevue for a match

with the 8-5 Wolverines. Assuming the Wolves can overcome injuries to

goalkeepers Erica Burch and Jenny Harder _ and assuming they can

overpower Bellevue _ they will proceed to second-round play today.

Otherwise, the season ends here.
