Cheer squad brings it on at camp

Members of the Mount Si High School (MSHS) Cheer Squad started off their summer "flying" at the four-day National Cheerleading Association (NCA) camp held at Western Washington University with 19 other cheer squads from across Washington, Oregon and Canada.
The Wildcat squad made a great showing, with awards ranging from "Superior" ratings for displaying strong technique and leading the crowd to "Spirit Sticks" for sincere spirit and enthusiasm. Four MSHS members received "All American" nominations as outstanding individuals who display superior cheer techniques in any of the following areas: jumps, tumbling stunting, motion, leadership and dance. Nominees from MSHS were Sierra Schaller, Erika Frye, Lynsie Griffith and Anna Henkel. As a result of the All American tryouts, Erika Frye, Lynsie Griffith and Anna Henkel were named to the 2005 NCA All American Team. Mount Si was also honored to receive the prestigious "Herkie T.E.A.M. Award." This plaque is awarded to the one squad that shows "true team spirit, unity and leadership" throughout the duration of the camp.
