Cedarcrest sends two runners to state

Two of Cedarcrest High School’s fleetest pairs of feet are on their way to state competition, May 26, 27 and 28, at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma. Chad Linnerooth finished third  at districts last week in the 800 meter race, running a sub-two-minute time to break his own school record, while Cara Strodel is returning to state, this time in the 3,200 meter race. She ran a tough, windy final quarter of the race to finish third.

Linnerooth runs Friday and Saturday, while Strodel runs Thursday evening.

Other highlights at district included Tenaya Davis’s personal record in the 400 meter race to become the second fastest in school history.  Hanna Gibson became the fourth CHS girl to throw over 100 feet, finishing eighth in the javelin.

Josh Denison ran another personal record in the 800 to finish eighth.  Mitchell Montgomery and Logan Orndorf battled down the homestretch in the 3200, and Mitchell came away with eighth place while  Logan came away with another personal and frosh record.  Jessica Beam ran a PR in the 3200 to finish sixth. Both 4×400 relay teams ran season bests as the girls finished fifth and the boys finished eighth.
