‘Cats win tournament

The seventh-grade Wildcat Eastside travel league boys' basketball team recently won the Redmond New Year's Holiday Tournament Championship. The boys went 5-and-0 on their way to their fourth tournament championship. In pool play they beat Lake Washington by 13, Bothell by 35 and a scrappy Newport team by 12 points. After winning the No. 1 seed in pool play, the team earned the right to play in the semifinals against Inglemoor, where they won a double overtime victory by two. A thrilling finish that led to a basket at the buzzer of regulation by Wes Hill put the game into overtime. The first overtime was the first time in the game that the Wildcats had the lead. The team went on to close the game out in the second overtime. The Wildcats then played Redmond in the championship game, winning in another thrilling overtime victory by 3. The Wildcats are now 24 and 2, winners of four tournaments and still undefeated in league play.
