The only loss Mount Si encountered all of last season was led by

the running game of Owen Biddle and Lane Johnson, on the

Wolverines’ home turf. This year the outcome was the same, and unfortunately for

Mount Si, so was one of the players, Johnson, who led his team to a 35-14 win

over the Wildcats.

Mount Si opened the game by receiving the kickoff, but neither of

the teams’ first two drives proved fruitful. Bellevue’s first drive looked about

the same, as the Mount Si defense forced a punt.

Starting from their own 25, the Wolverines went to work pounding

the middle. An offsides call on Mount Si in the middle of the drive didn’t

help the defensive effort. As the seconds of the first quarter ticked away,

Bellevue had moved to the Wildcat 2-yard line. The first play of the second

quarter was a quick dive across the middle to get the touchdown. With the

extra point, the score was Bellevue 7, Mount Si nothing, with 11:57 left in the

second quarter.

The Wildcats put together a promising drive on the back of

Michael Dollinter. The series included a great pass reception by Steve Botulinski,

but it wasn’t to be, as a fourth-and-10 finally forced the punt.

Bellevue wasted no time as Lane Johnson took one play to move

deep into Mount Si territory. The extra point gave the Wolverines a 14 point lead.

The very next drive for Mount Si was an indication they weren’t

going to go easy. Starting from their own 35, the Wildcat’s Jon Odom went to

the workhorse, Dollinter, who moved the ball downfield. Another great catch

by Botulinski put the ball on the Bellevue 36. Again Odom went to

Dollinter who moved the ball to the 22.

On second-and-10, Tyler Osborn came up with a sideline, feet-in

reception to get the first down at the 10-yard line. But runs by

Dollinter couldn’t quite penetrate the end zone, and with only a foot to go for the

score, Mount Si was forced to hand the ball over to Bellevue. With only 29

seconds left in the half, Bellevue simply ate up the clock, ending the first

half with a lead, 14-0.

Bellevue struck first in the second half. With 7:38 left in the

third, Johnson would break free at his own 48-yard line and go all the way for

the score. The extra point made the score 21-0.

But Mount Si would answer midway through the third quarter

as Dollinter finally got the icing, carrying the ball across the middle for

the Wildcats’ first score.

Bellevue would answer in return, getting another touchdown with

7:06 left in the game. Eventually they would get one more, running the

grand total up to 35. Mount Si would counter in the fourth with the big, bad

David Cole rumbling his way in from 4 yards out.

But the damage was done with Bellevue going on to a record of

5 wins and 1 loss, while Mount Si sits at 2 and 4 and only three weeks left

in the season.
