The Mount Si High School girls’ softball team opened its season in a big way last Friday, easily taking care of the Metro League’s Nathan Hale Raiders.

Junior Melissa Webster hit a home run and Traci Barclay went three for three as the Wildcats used two big innings to win 14-0. Mount Si scored seven runs in the second inning, and five more in the fifth to seal the game up. It was called early due to the 10-run mercy rule.

The home run came on Webster’s first at-bat, with a full three ball, two strike count on the Mount Si hitter.

Nathan Hale’s pitcher “pitched me an inside pitch and I turned on it and took it down the line and it just kept rolling,” Webster said.

Mount Si participated in a jamboree at Eastlake High School in Sammamish featuring Redmond, Skyline and the home-standing Wolves last Saturday. The jamboree served as an opportunity for players to work on improving their skills in advance of the start of the league schedule this week. Both the varsity and junior varsity teams competed in the event.

The Wildcats are expected to finish in the top half of Kingco 3A this season.
