The Mount Si Wildcat wrestling team notched another win last week as they downed the Bellevue Wolverines 402-24. Mount Si won nine matches to Bellevue’s five. Two of the wins came by pin, two by major decisions and one by a technical fall. Bellevue’s wins included two pins and two decisions.
The night started with a Mount Si forfeit at 103 pounds. From there, Mount Si dominated for several weight classes. At 112 pounds, the Wildcats’ Danny Peterson won by pin with three seconds left in the second round.
“It was great to see Danny Peterson come in as a JV to win and start us off,” said coach Jeff Newcomer.
At 119 pounds, Andrew Sypher won a 15-6 decision over Bellevue’s Josh Spiezle. Bellevue forfeited the 125-pound class for another six Wildcat points. Shane Dixon continued the reign at 130 pounds, winning an 8-4 decision over the Wolverines’ Martin Ho. “That was a good experience for Shane,” said Newcomer.
Ryan Makela was a machine at 135 pounds, never letting up on Bellevue’s Alex Murphy. Makela scored takedown and nearfall points repeatedly, winning a technical fall at the end of the second round. His score was 16-0.
