Riverview tops Colt team
The Colt season got off to a rough start this week with losses to
the Bothell Barons on Sunday and then a 10-8 loss to the Riverview Ravens
on Thursday.
In one of the wettest games ever played in the Valley, the Ravens
overcame a 5-3 Rainier lead in the bottom of the fourth inning to defeat
the Rainiers in a rain-shortened five-inning game.
The Rainiers, behind the pitching of Brandon Bumpus and key hits
by Brandon Dollinter and Tyler Bergstrom, jumped out to a 4-1
lead early. That lead soon dissipated as the Ravens found their bats
against Rainier relief pitcher Tyler Roy. Key hits combined with several errors
by the Rainiers led to seven Raven runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
The Rainiers battled back in the top of the fifth inning, scoring
two runs. However, it was not quite enough as the game was called due to
the weather and the Ravens collected the win. The Rainiers resumed play in
the Valley at Mount Si High on Wednesday at 6 p.m. and they’ll play again
at 4 p.m. on May 20.
