During the past two months, I have shared in this column information about the March 11 school bond proposition. While the bond election results are not yet final, it appears that the total will not reach the 60 percent “supermajority” required for passage. At this point, over 58 percent of those casting ballots have voted in support of the bond proposition, while about 42 percent voted in opposition.

Regardless of the final outcome, there are many dedicated individuals who have given selflessly of their time, energy and resources during the past six months. Parents and community volunteers served capably on the Facilities Task Force, while many others worked diligently as part of the Valley Voters for Education.

It has been a pleasure to work with these fine people during the past six months. Their dedication to the school district, and more importantly, the children, has been remarkable. They have devoted countless hours, working for kids.

While the outcome of the election is not what we had hoped for, the well-being and education of students attending our schools remains our top priority. Be assured that in the days and weeks to come, our thinking and decision-making will be driven by this singular priority, and that we will endeavor to do what’s best for all students attending our schools.

Regardless of the election outcome, the focus of our work and energy remains the same: to ensure high levels of learning for all students throughout Snoqualmie Valley schools. Thank you for your continued support as we strive to make our schools the very best that they can be.
