Vote `yes’ on school bond

Letter to the Editor.

Lower Snoqualmie [Valley] residents are urged to vote for our

children on Nov. 7. Our kids at Cedarcrest High School need to have an

athletic field capable of providing a basic outdoor physical-education

curriculum and allowing our young athletes to practice and play games at their

school. Our current “fix” to the lack of

fields has our kids on area roads instead of their deserved field. PE students

jog along Duvall roads became they don’t have a track. Athletes carpool to

Tolt and other Eastside schools for practice and games. This daily

commute down State Route 203 takes time away from homework and practice, as

well as putting young drivers on the road during high traffic periods.

Statistics show that children who participate in sports are less likely

to take drugs or drop out of high school. Please improve our kids’ chances

for success. The Riverview School Board maintains school taxes at or below

$5 per $1,000 assessed value. Therefore, your taxes will remain at or near

their current rate due to other bonds that are expiring. Not voting counts as a

“no” vote. Our children deserve a

complete education, which includes physical education and athletic teams.
