We need to vote for Democrat Darcy Burner. Pundits and pollsters are predicting the Democrats will take control of the House of Representatives. A recent national poll of public judgment on Congress is negative by a 66 percent to 32 percent margin. The Democrats appear on track to pick up perhaps 10 more than the 15 seats necessary for a takeover.

If we elect Burner, she will be among the newly elected “stars” that make things happen. She will be a strong voice on the House floor, speaking out on our important issues such as improving education, solving the energy problem, making health care more affordable, protecting Social Security and keeping promises to our veterans. She will support solutions that bring our troops home from Iraq as quickly as possible.

If Dave Reichert is re-elected, his influence as a member of a minority party in disarray will be much diminished for the purposes of effectively representing us regarding those same interests.

The smart vote should be for Darcy Burner.
