I have to add my congratulations to Sue Beauvais and Matt Walker, owners of Wilderness Glass, for their 15 years of business here in the Snoqualmie Valley and, more importantly, their 15 years of contributions to the Snoqualmie Valley.

Wilderness Glass epitomizes involvement in the community. Sue has been an avid supporter of numerous organizations and functions, always willing to lend a hand. Financially, few businesses have matched the contributions that Wilderness Glass has made to various organizations, many of which benefit each of you directly.

By the way, on a side note: No, Sue and Matt are not married. But I did find it funny that as I went to take the photo for the story, they jokingly put their hands around each other’s necks to mock a typical business-partner battle. Again, congratulations to a great business.

On a sad note, a great journalist has passed away. Lou Corsaletti, a veteran journalist with The Seattle Times, died last week, finally losing his battle to cancer. I met Lou on several occasions, thanks to my friend, Dick Burhans. Lou was an admitted reader of the Valley Record and he shared Snoqualmie Valley stories with the entire region. He was well-liked by those he wrote about and appeared to have a great relationship with those in public office locally. His commitment to journalism and the Snoqualmie Valley will long be missed.

Finally on an upbeat note, the remodeling of your Valley Record offices is nearing completion. I’m sure many of you were oblivious, while reading the pages of the Record, that we were all caked with dust for many months during our office remodel. But, alas, the end is near and the improvements will only make the Record a better product, if by no other means than we have a lot more room to spread things out on our desks. And, yes, as you drive by the building, that is me in the office window. The staff has jokingly remarked it ought to put a sign under the window that says, “Please do not feed the animals,” but so far, nothing has appeared.

Downtown Snoqualmie is in a building frenzy and it’s nice to be a part of that action. Stop by and check out our new digs; they really are amazing.
