Thank you to all our crews for pulling off another great street fair. Lee Alexander, Kevin Hauglie, Steve Allen and Joe Pekara went above and beyond the call of duty this year hauling the equipment (staging) in and out of the trailer, plus getting the road signs ready for my traffic crew (John Lazenby, Ron Johnson and Terry Dix).

Thank you to Nora Childs, Anne Estrin-Wasink and Jane Krein for a great parade that brought smiles to faces young and old. Barb Lewis, Cindy Sattler and Julie Meador pulled off another awesome race. Melody Tjossem and Shari Woodruff ran the merchandising booth this year and we are so grateful for their hard work.

Our Boy Scout den/troops cleaned up our town before and after, and thanks to Gordons’ Construction Co. we had a dumpster available to us free of charge. Fall City Elementary School and Chief Kanim Middle School are always so accomodating to our needs from the Fun Run parking to the Hoopfest and carnival.

Thanks to Vanessa Allen and the Friends of Fall City Library who sponsored our main stage music. Jeff Chelgren brought and set up the sound system and we were able to hear his son Steven’s awesome singing after the parade was over. Thanks to Garrick Phillips from Mount Si High School for getting our first annual three-on-three tournament off the ground. We are looking forward to more teams next year and hope to make it one of our signature events in the future.

Jack Kelley graciously loaned me his golf cart to cruise up and down the street. (I hope those of you I encountered have regained the feeling in their toes.) Thank you Cheri Enevold, Lisa King and Joan Torget for helping me with vendor set up (which enabled me to relax and enjoy Mount Si High School’s graduation).

Laurie Hauglie and Elaine and Jack Webber jumped right in and got their hands dirty doing anything and everything we asked of them. El Caporal always lets the vendors use their facilities, which keeps us in the public health department’s good graces.

Of course, we couldn’t do any of this without the security of knowing we have an awesome policing unit led by Mike Hastings. They volunteer their time to keep us safe and we are very grateful.

If you see any of these community members over the next few months, please stop and thank them for their hard work. They make Fall City Days happen and deserve recognition, even though they are too humble to admit it.

We saw some new faces this year willing to jump in and we welcome more volunteers to help us in the future.

We are planning on bringing back the “Firefighters Ball,” the Ducky Derby, and I will be visiting other fairs this summer to bring in new food and craft vendors.
