Thanks to local youth leaders

Letter to the Editor

I would like to thank the youth group representatives who came to the 74th annual Grange Week celebration on Thursday, May 8. Campfire, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, as well as Junior Grange representatives, were on hand to discuss the participation opportunities for our Valley’s youth.

Everyone present learned a lot about these wonderful organizations. Campfire Program Coordinator Laura Lagerstedt is available for any questions regarding programs and membership at (425) 885-0477; Girl Scout representative Joanne Brooks at (425) 888-1812; and Cub Scout Pack No. 466 contact Andrea Swanson, represented by Cub Master Philip Boynton, may be reached at (425) 888-8199. Pack No. 466 meets at North Bend Elementary on the first Friday of the month. Junior Grange (another opportunity near and dear to the Grange) information is available at (425) 888-9006. All the youth groups discussed many opportunities, including summer camps and activities. Some scholarships are available through the Grange, also.

The Sallal Grange legislative chairperson, “Boots” Fischer, presented Initiative 872, regarding the right to keep our primary system without declaring party affiliation. In order to protect our current system in the general election, this initiative must have 250,000 signatures by June, Fischer said, to be on the ballot.

A wonderful performance by local magician Ian White, a senior at Mount Si High School, capped our evening.

The Grange, a family-friendly organization, welcomes anyone interested in becoming involved. For more information, call Monte Lynch at 888-9006.

Monte Lynch, Master,

Sallal Grange No. 955
