School bus problems should have been avoided

Record Editorial

The opening of the school year is a busy time for parents, teachers,

bus drivers and school administrators alike. But this year seemed to start a

bit more sluggishly then in past years. Could it be the dissention between

bus drivers and administrators? Could it be a lack of planning with regards

to routes, times and student populations?

Whatever the reasons, this office received twice the number of

complaints as normal. These complaints ranged from kids not getting picked up on

time to bus rides of an hour and a half.

I’m sure the process of determining all of the intricacies of bus

scheduling is not an easy task, but it is a task that a large population of the school

district depends on.

I urge the school district to determine the causes and solutions for

the busing problem this school year. After all the positive things that have

happened in recent years with technology and facility upgrades, I would hate

to see poor bus service tarnish the district’s ability to continue on a path

toward world-class facilities and students
