Rotary Park project a winner

Record Editorial

The property near the intersection of Snoqualmie Ridge Parkway and State Route 202 is a major gateway to downtown Snoqualmie. More than 1 million visitors a year drive by that plot of land on their way to Snoqualmie Falls. Currently the property is a former Puget Sound Energy pole yard with a trailer, structure and fencing, not the best foot forward for all those visitors to see.

But that will change thanks to the Snoqualmie Valley Rotary and the efforts of the city, the Northwest Railway Museum and several other organizations. The pole yard is slated to be transformed into a gateway park. The park would give visitor’s a place to stop for directions, be used for various events and possibly entice more visitors to the downtown core. It’s a win-win situation for residents of the Valley, the city and local businesses.

With a goal in sight comes the realization that all things good (regarding the future of the park) are driven by money. Over the next several years we will see opportunities to get involved with the project either through donations or labor. Rotary has initiated what will truly be a community project.

I applaud the efforts of Charlotte Jacobs and Snoqualmie Valley Rotary for taking on such a great project. If you would like to make a donation, give Charlotte a call at (425) 831-1761.
