Robertson a good pick

Letter to the Editor.

The Riverview School District is to be commended for its superintendent selection process and the hiring of Mr. Conrad Robertson as the next district superintendent. I had the opportunity to serve on the districtwide citizens’ committee to review applicants. This committee included 17 people from throughout the district. It included parents, staff, both certified and classified business people, community members and students. It was a long process that began with soliciting input from the community, and developing a brochure to advertise the district and its strengths and weaknesses.

This committee then reviewed more than 30 applications, narrowing the field to 10 applicants for phone interviews. Following these interviews, reference checks were made and shared with the committee. The committee submitted three candidates to the board and community for on-site interviews. This resulted in the hiring last week of Mr. Robertson. Many of the candidates commented about the openness of our process and how broad-based the committee members were.

Having participated in this process, I am very excited to have Mr. Robertson coming to the Riverview School District. He has 12 years experience in his current district. He came across in the interviews as very personable and anxious to get to know the communities. Congratulations to the district board and staff upon his hiring. As a parent and community member, I look forward to the continued development of the district under his leadership.
