“Project Boe” not on hold

Letter to the Editor

On behalf of the Church on the Ridge Home Makeover Project Team, I wanted to express our sincere appreciation to Melissa Kruse for writing such a thoughtful story, “Fall City boy succumbs to cancer,” about our fallen hero, Boe Smith. (Sept. 14, Valley Record).

Regarding Church on the Ridge’s initiative to assist the Smith family with home renovations, the project is definitely NOT on hold. In fact, multiple behind-the-scenes activities are currently in progress and tasks are in the queue for future action. We are moving forward in Boe’s memory and honor, and feel privileged for this opportunity.

In addition the team did not want Kara Popp of Fall City to go unrecognized. Over the past few years, Kara has been instrumental in organizing and coordinating numerous fund-raising activities on Boe’s behalf.
