Sure, the scoreboard may have said that the boys’ Mount Si basketball team took sixth in state but from my perspective, a seven-footer has nothing on the local talent.

This was my second trip to state covering the boys’ basketball team and once again, the players, coaches and community left me proud as I drove home from Tacoma. These kinds of things make this a great community. Maybe there was some country song on the XM radio about my hometown that made it so sweet or maybe it was the droves of fans that were noticed by every other team for their loudness and never-give-up attitude. Or maybe it was the humbleness of the coaching staff as they waved to the crowd after each game. It really doesn’t matter what spot the team took at state, what matters is they made the trip and made us proud.
