The 2006 Snoqualmie Valley Crop Walk is just a memory. If you wondered who all those people were walking around Snoqualmie on Saturday, May 20, in the morning (some thought they were protesters), they were walking to raise money for the work of Church World Service (CWS) and our Mount Si Helping Hands Food Bank.

Twenty-five percent of donations to Crop Walk stay right here in the Valley, going to the food bank. This year, it looks like at least $1,000 will be headed its way.

This year, the walk was co-hosted by Snoqualmie United Methodist Church and St. Clare of Assisi Episcopal Church and we are grateful for this partnership. Next year, we hope one or two more churches will step forward and join in this wonderful ecumenical undertaking.

Thanks to Talking Rain, BiBo’s Coffee, Pine Lake QFC and the Redmond Albertsons for supporting Crop Walk. Thanks to the volunteers for all your work. Thanks, also, to those who supported the walkers (and ultimately CWS and our food bank) with financial contributions. And finally, thanks to those who walked to raise money for and awareness of the work of CWS and our own Mount Si Helping Hands Food Bank.
