While touched that 88 percent of the people who did the latest poll concerning whether the public gives enough reverence to soldiers on Memorial Day said no, where were you at the memorials at local ceremonies? In North Bend we had less than a dozen attendees, not including the veterans, minister and Scouts.

Thank you to those who honestly show reverence to our men and women who fought for the freedom we now enjoy. And thank you to the local VFW members who provided us lunch after the ceremony.

To the rest of you who do not think enough appreciation is shown, see you next year at one of the memorial services. Until then, I understand our local VFW could use some assistance. Let’s support our beliefs by doing something more than responding to a poll.
