Let’s choose the future we want

Letter to the Editor

For 11 years I was fortunate to serve on our Snoqualmie Valley School Board – a board that worked by consensus in a district where teachers believe in their mission and where parents contribute so greatly and send children to school ready to learn.

Voters of our Snoqualmie Valley School District support technology and facilities for students to learn and for teachers to educate more effectively. Our educators continue to be among the best, in my view, and we continue to be on the cutting edge of best practices to enhance student learning. Our district has done what is right so our children will be ready for their road ahead.

Your next election will be on Feb. 6, 2007. Your school district will need your help to pass a bond for a new elementary school and a new high school. These are major projects but delay would only bring greater expense. Now is the time to act.

As a member of the Lake Alice Road Community and the greater Snoqualmie Valley, I hope you will join me. We need to choose the future we want for our communities and especially for our children.

I was asked to say a few words by the Valley Voters for Education and am happy to do that. Please support their good efforts in this cause. Their Web site is www.vvfe.org, where you will find a wealth of information about how our children need your vote in this bond election, how much it will cost, a review of the alternatives considered and how you can help.
