Please vote “yes” on I-713, which will appear on the ballot, Election
Day, Nov. 7, 2000. If Initiative 713 passes, it will forever ban cruel
body-gripping traps and poisons. These traps are
used to kill wildlife for sport, or for profit in the fur trade.
This form of trapping kills by slow torture or maims, not only
targeted species such as bobcats, foxes, beaver, otter and mink, but family pets
and poses a threat to children who have the misfortune of stepping into one
of these steel-jawed traps. The use of steel-jawed, leg-hold traps and
other body-gripping traps is extremely barbaric and must be banned.
Just for the record, these traps have nothing at all to do with the
cougar issue. They are not trapped by this method.
Please help protect our precious wildlife and ensure our safety
from traps and poisons that pose a lethal threat to our wildlife and pets.
Remember to vote “yes” on I-713 on Nov. 7.
Thank you for caring.
