Group puts poachers in spotlight

Letter to the Editor

This is a message for the so-called “hunters” who think you can drive into our neighborhood off Mount Si Road, past all the posted “NO HUNTING – PRIVATE PROPERTY” signs and endanger our families to get an easy shot at a bull or buck in our yards.

You know who you are: the bow hunter in the white truck knocking on doors to see if we’re home before you sneak onto our property; the silver truck with boys all dressed in camo on a Sunday morning; the truck with spotlights at two in the morning; the lone man hiding in the brush near where our children wait for the school bus – just to name a few. It must be exciting for you being able to step out of your warm trucks to set your sights; as exciting as shooting cows in a field.

Here is our message: we are watching out for you and recording your vehicle licenses with the region-4 game warden at (425) 775-1311. Our children and pets are much more important than your easy, illegal targets and we will do everything in our power to stop your recklessness.

Our message to the real hunters who are reading this (including our friends and family members): thank you for obeying the laws and keeping hunting the honorable tradition it should be.

Please help us stop these bad apples by reporting all poachers at (800) 477-6224 or (360) 902-2936.
