In September, children attending the Snoqualmie Valley elementary and middle schools were treated to their first assembly of the year. It featured Retro Bill, a nationally recognized and dedicated children’s advocate. Hopefully your kids came home and told you about him; if not, ask them about him. He spoke (with wacky props and in rather strange attire) of safety, the importance of making positive choices and topics that related to each age group. The response we’ve received regarding Retro Bill’s visit has been very positive. One of our partners in this project was the Issaquah Schools Foundation (ISF). They had Retro Bill at their middle schools on Friday of the week he was here. He was such a hit, they are bringing him back to visit more of their schools.

Besides ISF, we had great partners from our Valley that helped support this project, and we truly appreciate them. They are: The Salish Lodge, The Snoqualmie Valley Kiwanis, Karlene Slover and The North Bend Theatre, Kristy Sullivan and the Sno-Valley Community Network, King County Sheriff’s Office- North Bend Substation and Chief Kanim’s Associated Student Body (ASB), and the parent/teacher/student associations of Snoqualmie, Opstad, Cascade View, Fall City and North Bend elementary schools and Snoqualmie Middle School.

The Snoqualmie Valley Schools Foundation raises funds used to bridge the gap between state funding and what our classrooms need.
