Forum a waste of taxpayers’ money

This afternoon (March 19), I attended a public forum with Reps. Glenn Anderson and Jay Rodne, and Sen. Cheryl Pflug. This forum was ostensibly an opportunity for their constituents to ask questions of their legislators, make their voices heard on policy and find out what’s happening in Olympia. What we got instead was a Republican rally.

Sen. Pflug spent the time answering each question by whining about what “we” (Republicans) try to do and “they” (Democrats) keep blocking; never mentioning one word about how she has tried to find a middle ground – only that “they” won’t agree to what “we” want. The representatives did less of this complaining, but were not shy about their partisan goals. When an attendee asked what the Republican caucus was going to do about the Democratic agenda, all three gleefully joined the complaints that all “we” get to do in Olympia is talk!

This was very disturbing and a gross misuse of our government’s time and money. I’ve attended similar events with Jay Inslee and he always deflects any partisan questions because he’s there to talk with all his constituents about issues. It was very disappointing. Since I helped pay for today’s uninformative misadventure, how do I get my money back?
