Editorial the last straw

Letter to the Editor

I’ve subscribed to your newspaper since I moved to Snoqualmie in 1999. Much of the paper has been interesting and worth the price of subscription in order to keep up with community events. However, your editorials have always been a weak point.

I’ve kept my subscription out of loyalty to my adopted community. No more. Your editorial of Dec. 16 was the last straw. It demonstrated a real lack of journalistic integrity. After first stating that you care nothing about party affiliation and that you always vote for the best qualified candidate, you then use your public forum to concentrate on belittling the “Democrats” while casting “Republicans” in a positive light. Your party affiliation is smeared all over your editorial and you ought to just come out and acknowledge it.

You ought also to acknowledge that no matter which party is on the losing side of a 42-vote election, the losing side will pursue a recount and every legal avenue open to it. George Bush took his case to the Supreme Court in 2000. I didn’t see any editorial from you then bemoaning the fact that “The Republicans are beginning to get on the public’s nerves.” There’s enough hypocrisy today in the world and in politics. It doesn’t belong on the editorial page.

I read editorial pages for enlightenment, not hypocrisy. Please cancel my subscription immediately and refund the balance owed me.
