This is a recognition letter to dentist Dr. Kelly Garwood.

I worked for Weyerhaeuser from 1989 to 1998. I was severely injured when hit by a skyline in 1995. I had a young family and against doctors’ orders, I was back under the rigging in a month. I was still in considerable pain, but it was my life goal to raise my family.

I had surgeries because of the injury in 1996 and 1997 and returned to work each time but finally quit in 1998, because of the pain. I tried several other jobs but the pain was unbearable.

I consulted many neurosurgeons who all said surgery would likely cause more damage. Reluctantly, I signed up for Social Security disability. I had to sell my family home at a loss.

This is where Dr. Garwood stepped in. I had neglected my teeth for years and needed 10 or 11 extractions and dentures. Before Dr. Garwood even knew I had worked at the same company with her father, she promised to get my work done on a credit plan.

Dr. Garwood must have read it in my eyes to take such a financial risk, but as she promised to give me a smile back, I promised I would pay our agreed monthly payment and if I have an extra $20, she’s the first person I think of to pay.

I just thank God for her and believe anybody looking for a caring dentist should see her. She gave me back a lot of self-esteem.
