Councilman out of touch with citizens

Letter to the Editor

The City Council meeting last week reaffirmed that I live in a great community with many articulate, eloquent and level-headed fellow citizens. It is too bad that more of the council members can’t be like the citizens who they supposedly represent. Citizen after citizen stood up and spoke in support of our local police department – citizen comments went on for nearly two hours.

Councilman Matt Larson then stated that he did not think the group represented the beliefs of the community. Certainly not a true majority of the community spoke that night but statistically, an overwhelming majority supported maintaining the local police force. To me, this shows how out of touch the councilman is with the wants and needs of the community he supposedly represents.

I don’t think that Matt is foolish enough to move toward replacing our dedicated local officers with the ever transient force of King County. But if he continues to try, it is good to know that elections are just around the corner. Which brings me back to all of the articulate, eloquent, level-headed citizens of Snoqualmie.
