Concert, workshop well attended

Letter to the editor.

The base of support for the arts in Fall City is broadening! The

latest “Friday Nite Live” concert on Jan.

28 at Fall City Elementary School by Rainier Brass Quintet was

supported by the Fall City Library and the King County Arts Commission.

Many thanks to Nan Palmer for her successful grant writing, to Don

McConkey and his great staff for being such superb hosts at the school, to Terry

Reilly for her elegant posters, and to the Valley Record staff for their support

of Friday Nite Live and the arts.

The newly remodeled gymnasium provided excellent acoustics for

the concert. A longtime community member hardly recognized the

gymnasium where he had played freshman basketball many, many years ago.

The evening provided an opportunity for showing off the school and its

improvements. It was great to see everyone there, young and old.

In addition to the concert, the elementary school sponsored a

“Brass Workshop” led by members of the Rainier Brass Quintet, attended by

students from Fall City Elementary, Chief Kanim and Snoqualmie

middle achools, and Mount Si High School. The sounds of trumpets,

trombones, French horns, baritones and tubas rang through the halls! Three members

of the Mount Si band even joined the quintet during the concert!

Thank you to all who participated and made the evening a success.
