The American Cancer Society’s fourth annual Relay for Life of the Snoqualmie Valley was held on June 25-26 at Centennial Fields in Snoqualmie. I want to thank the merchants, sponsors and volunteers that made this year’s Relay such a success.

I’d especially like to thank all of you participants who raised money. I was touched to see how giving the people of the Valley are. We received so much more than we asked for.

I met many people at the Relay who have had or are struggling with cancer, and I want to thank each of them for coming, sharing their stories and giving us the inspiration to work together toward one goal, a cure. Your presence at the Relay meant a lot to us.

We have raised over $110,000 so far, and the money keeps coming in. We far surpassed our goal and are still counting. I am proud to be a part of a community that so generously donated food, gifts, money and their time to help.

Because of your generosity, in four years of relays we have raised over $272,000. That is truly incredible for a community of our size.

The money will help the American Cancer Society fight the disease from all angles: research, advocacy, education and service programs. The outstanding support received proves that the people of the Valley are truly committed to the fight against cancer.

I’d especially like to thank several outstanding volunteers at Relay: Ken and Marie Hearing, Bob Ditrani, Geoffrey Prince, Dr. John Lindberg, Andy Leiper and Dr. James Cunningham. Your help was invaluable.
