Businesses fail to step up to the plate

Although I have been a Snoqualmie Valley resident for the past 31 years, I have never written to you. But I feel compelled to do so after the recent storm and subsequent loss of power to all of us up in North Bend and Snoqualmie.

I wish to give a big thank you to Pop’s Country Store in North Bend. They, and a few others, went above and beyond the call of duty in figuring out a way to connect a generator and pump propane. I am amazed that some of the other community leaders who are also business owners were unable or unwilling to find a way to pump gas/propane.

Fireworks are great, but stepping up to the plate when your community is in need is way more important. I’m sure there are “compelling reasons” why nobody but the Snoqualmie gas station could pump gas, though eventually one North Bend station was able to pump. But not the big boys. A pity.

Anyway kudos to Pop and all the others who were there for us.
