Bond measure scaled down from previous proposals

Letter to the Editor.

The Riverview School District No. 407 has a bond on the ballot that

will finance the much-needed and begged-for athletic field and track

improvements to the Cedarcrest High School site. This outdoor facility will also

benefit the physical-education curriculum of students attending Cedarcrest

today, tomorrow and in the future.

The estimated annual tax increase of $26 on a $200,000 home will

allow the community, the students, athletes, cheerleaders, band members and

drill-team members to have a home field to be proud of. They will be able to

practice on their own fields. Currently they have to use other high-school

facilities. They will be able to host home games, a privilege that they

currently do not have.

The 2000 bond has been scaled down from previous proposals.

The 2000 bond proposes construction of an all-season field with modest

necessities (restrooms, bleachers, press box and concession booth) to

accommodate football, soccer, track and field, expansion of outdoor PE

curriculum and provide proper facilities for cross country, cheer, band and drill team.

If you vote “yes,” you will see the pride of the students and the

excitement of the community when hosting a home soccer or football game, or

a track meet.

Your support is needed, and your “yes” vote is encouraged on Nov.

7. Please contact any school board member or log on to www.

riverview.wednet.edu for any further information regarding this bond

proposal.
