Article on MacNichols receives comment

I have a comment regarding the article on Jeff MacNichols in last week's paper (Jan. 14, 2004).
The article states that "Since he was a newcomer and didn't come up through the usual commissions and committees that breed council members and mayors, MacNichols may have been perceived as being a little green to politics. His limited history in the city doesn't bother him though since he is representing a large demographic of new Snoqualmie residents. A majority of this town has been here three years or less, he said. I am part of that majority."
I realize the first portion of the statement was not an outright quote from Mr. MacNichols, but it really burns me that he appears to represent only a large demographic of "new" Snoqualmie residents. With the probable selection of another council(man) and maybe two more by year's end, I suspect "we" will be represented by seven Snoqualmie Ridge residents. Between my husband and me, we have been in this town over 100 years; not old, just wise and experienced.
I hope Mr. MacNichols understands that we do not have "wards," such as the school and hospital districts for elections, but that each person represents all of Snoqualmie. We flatlanders, as my husband often calls us, have no representation at all - maybe we need to look at wards for elections.
