Anything goes now with marriage vows

Letter to the Editor

Marriage is no longer a sacred institution in America, and for that you can thank Senators Cantwell and Murray. They had the chance, when voting on the Federal Marriage Amendment, to stand up for traditional matrimony. They opted instead to open the door to cultural chaos.

With the FMA’s demise we must brace ourselves for as many as 50 different state definitions of marriage, not just homosexual marriage as was recently legalized in Massachusetts, but marriages among multiple partners or even between siblings or other blood relatives. Now that the basic definition has been tampered with, anything goes.

Senators Cantwell and Murray helped to bring this travesty about, regardless of what constituents like me and you told them we felt about the situation. Each of us needs to remember that the next time they look to us for votes.
